Time and storage space were scanty resources on Lido Treporti island in the Venice lagoon, where our customer Capital Ferro SpA built seven gigantic concrete caissons. These will be anchored on the sea floor and accommodate the hydraulic gates for the future flood protection of the lagoon city. Hünnebeck Italia did not only design and supply the formwork solutions but had to establish continuous logistics by delivering all the materials exactly on time.
Following the progress chart supplied by the client it was our goal to permit work on several caissons simultaneously and reduce the time required for such tasks as erection and stripping. These were unique challenges. Nevertheless we succeeded in achieving this goal exclusively with standard solutions and without extra labor input.
The construction team was given three sets of formwork for the pouring of the foundation. Six sets were available for the walls and two more for the steel reinforcement. Two sets of scaffolding were provided for access.
